Architecture Notes · Original learning exercise
Thirty minutes to restore. Forty-five minutes to serve.
Your database restores in 30 minutes. The business needs customers placing orders within 45. Does the recovery drill pass?
Measure the complete path. In this fictional exercise, detection takes 5 minutes, the recovery decision takes 5, database restoration takes 30, and application verification takes 10. Sequentially, that is 50 minutes before any additional routing delay.
Some work can overlap. Prove the dependency schedule. Then test whether a customer can complete a correct order under the required load.
Which step can run in parallel? Which must wait?
